Crossings Doula
Caring End-of-Life Support Before, During & After Death

Welcome to Crossings Doula, a compassionate, non-medical support service for individuals and their loved ones facing end-of-life. We serve those residing in Southern Nevada including Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Mesquite, and Boulder City. You may wonder how an award-winning marketing communications firm got involved in this industry and the answer is easy; ChayraCom's founder, Sharon Chayra, is a longtime healthcare professional. After years of assisting family and loved ones make their final journey, the demand of making this "official" was born. Thus, Sharon and a growing team of doulas are helping make the transition to the great beyond easier. In addition, ChayraCom assists both fledgling and established death midwives with marketing expertise and tools to grow their practices, too.

What is a Death Doula?

Doulas have been around since time immemorial and serve people—and animals—from birth to death. Today's end-of-life or death doulas serve as bridges between clinical care/hospice but do not render any medical care. Instead, we are witnesses, advocates, midwives, listeners, hand-holders and helpers for those facing a terminal diagnosis as well as their loved ones. Crossings Doulas will feed a comforting meal to family, give caregivers a break, sit bedside, help coordinate advance directives, write obituaries, or wash the body after the person has passed. We are privileged to serve those making their final journey and ensuring last wishes are honored according to the individual's plans, faith, culture, tradition, and desires.

Who Pays for a Death Doula?

End-of-life doulas do not qualify for any insurance reimbursement (for now) and are therefore paid by the individual or family. We recognize that finances are a consideration, especially at end-of-life, which is why Crossings Doula provides a sliding fee schedule for those who qualify. Depending on your needs, fees range from $28 to $125 per hour. Remember, however, the assistance in planning, preparing, and implementing is priceless in terms of alleviating many of the burdens that happen when someone dies.

When Should I Get a Death Doula?

Planning ahead has never been more important than when considering end-of-life. Many people include doula services into their wills and trust planning. Others rely on referrals from hospice, friends, or online sites. No matter when or when you discover Crossings Doula, we can pick-up where you are and lend a helping hand.
